Buffalo River Back Country Horsemen

The Buffalo River Back Country Horsemen is made up of a group of riders of all ages and abilities, who not only enjoys riding the trails of our public lands, but are making a real effort to improve them and allow better access for everyone to use. This is done through extensive trail maintenance and improvement projects coordinated with local government and private agencies.

The purpose of the Back Country Horseman shall be as follows:

  1. To perpetuate the common sense use and enjoyment of horses and mules in America’s back country and wilderness areas.
  2. To work to insure that public lands remain open to recreational stock use.
  3. To assist the various government and private agencies in their maintenance and management of said resources.
  4. To educate, encourage and solicit active participation in the wise use of the back country resource by horsemen and the general public commensurate with our heritage.
  5. To foster and encourage the formation of new State Back Country Horsemen Organizations.

If you are interested in getting involved with a group of riders who are not only going on weekend rides, but are making a real effort to improve our trail systems and insure they remain open and accessible for all of us to use, now and in the future, please contact Bill Huetteman, the current President of the Buffalo River Back Country Horseman at his e-mail address below for information on how you can join or how you can find a BCH Organization in your state.

Thanks, Jamie
